Italian packaging industry converges on Moscow for Upakovka
The 2018 edition of Upakovka, Russia’s most important exhibition for the processing and packaging industry, will be held from 23 to 26 January in Moscow. Expectations are running high for this year’s show amidst a recovery in the Russian market after several years of political and economic instability.
Ucima (Italian Automatic Packaging Machine Manufacturers’ Association) is taking part in the event with a delegation of 11 companies and an institutional lounge where it will promote Italian technologies and the 2018 edition of IPACK-IMA.
The area coordinated by Ucima will host leading companies such as Arol, Cavanna, FT System, Ima, Marchesini Group, Mg2, Ocme, Pasta Technologies Group, R.Bardi, Robopac and Unimac-Gherri.
The Italian participation in the show comes as part of the strategic alliance between Interpack, IPACK-IMA and Ucima, which not only envisages mutual support between the trade fairs held in Dusseldorf and Milan but also sees Ucima provide its support for the international exhibitions organised by Messe Düsseldorf as part of the “interpack alliance”. Following the Moscow show, the association will be taking part in other trade fairs organised this year in Iran (Pacprocess Tehran) and India (Pacprocess India/Indiapack and Foodpex India).
In 2016 Italy exported plants worth €120.1 million to Russia (up 3.1% on 2015 and equivalent to 22.6% of the country’s total imports), occupying second position in the export rankings after Germany.
The figures for the first nine months of 2017 are encouraging, with Russia climbing to eighth place amongst Italian export markets with a volume of €103.7 million (up 22.7% on the same period in 2016).
